What is it used for?
Diclofenac injection is used for short-term relief of moderate to severe pain and inflammation, especially in muscle, joint and arthritis-related conditions. It may be used when an injection is needed under medical supervision.

How does it work?
It reduces the production of substances called prostaglandins that cause pain, swelling and inflammation.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by a healthcare professional, usually by injection, exactly as prescribed. Do not self-inject or use it for longer than advised.

Common side effects
Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness and pain or irritation at the injection site.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney or liver disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma triggered by painkillers, or an allergy to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Avoid using it with other NSAID painkillers unless advised. Seek medical help for black stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain, breathing difficulty, chest pain or swelling. It should generally be avoided during the last 3 months of pregnancy unless specifically prescribed.
