Uses

Etoricoxib is a selective COX-2 non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation. Depending on the condition, it may be prescribed for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gout, or short-term musculoskeletal/dental pain.

How to Use

Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. For acute gout or short-term acute pain, 120 mg is generally used only for a short duration; it should not be taken longer than prescribed.

Do not combine it with other NSAIDs such as diclofenac, ibuprofen, naproxen, or high-dose aspirin unless your doctor specifically advises this.

Precautions & Warnings

Tell your doctor if you have:

- High blood pressure, heart disease, previous heart attack or stroke
- Kidney or liver disease
- Stomach ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Fluid retention or heart failure
- Asthma or previous allergic reactions to NSAIDs

Etoricoxib can increase blood pressure, cause fluid retention, affect kidney function, and increase the risk of cardiovascular events, particularly with higher doses or prolonged use. Your doctor may monitor blood pressure and kidney function.

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects include indigestion, stomach discomfort, nausea, headache, dizziness, swelling of the legs or feet, and increased blood pressure.

Seek immediate medical attention for chest pain, severe shortness of breath, weakness on one side of the body, black or bloody stools, vomiting blood, severe allergic reaction, or significant reduction in urine output.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Etoricoxib should generally not be used during pregnancy, particularly during the later stages, unless specifically prescribed. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Consult your doctor before use while breastfeeding.

Storage

Store at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.

Important Safety Information

Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest necessary duration. Do not exceed the prescribed dose. If you miss a dose, take it when remembered unless it is nearly time for the next dose; do not take a double dose.
