Povidone Iodine 10% w/v (equivalent to available Iodine 1% w/v)

Aqueous base: q.s.

Description:

Aldine Microbicidal Solution 10% is a broad-spectrum antiseptic and disinfectant containing Povidone Iodine 10% w/v, formulated for topical application and preoperative skin disinfection.
It acts by gradual release of free iodine, providing rapid and long-lasting antimicrobial action against bacteria, fungi, viruses, spores, and protozoa.
This solution is ideal for pre- and postoperative skin preparation, wound cleansing, first aid disinfection, and general antiseptic use in hospitals and clinics.
It is non-staining, non-irritating, and helps prevent infections effectively while being gentle on the skin.

Warnings and Precautions:

For external use only.

Avoid contact with eyes, ears, and mucous membranes.

Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to iodine or povidone.

Exercise caution in individuals with thyroid disorders or those receiving radioiodine therapy.

Prolonged or excessive use may lead to systemic iodine absorption and affect thyroid function.

Discontinue use if irritation, redness, or rash occurs.

Do not mix with mercury- or silver-based antiseptics.

Use during pregnancy or lactation only under medical advice.

Not intended for internal use or ingestion.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Mild dryness, itching, or temporary brown discoloration of the skin.

Occasional: Local irritation or burning at the site of application.

Rare: Allergic contact dermatitis or hypersensitivity reactions.

Very rare: Systemic iodine absorption leading to thyroid dysfunction with prolonged, large-area use.

Storage:

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from light and moisture.

Keep the container tightly closed after each use.
