Povidone Iodine 5% w/v (equivalent to available Iodine 0.5% w/v)

Aqueous base: q.s.

Description:

Aldine Microbicidal Solution is a broad-spectrum antiseptic preparation containing Povidone Iodine 5% w/v, formulated for topical disinfection of skin and mucous membranes.
It acts through slow release of free iodine, providing rapid microbicidal action against bacteria, fungi, viruses, spores, and protozoa.
This solution is widely used for preoperative skin cleansing, wound irrigation, first aid disinfection, and infection prevention in healthcare settings.
It ensures persistent antimicrobial activity while being non-irritating and gentle on the skin.

Warnings and Precautions:

For external use only.

Avoid contact with eyes, ears, and mucous membranes.

Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to iodine or povidone.

Use with caution in individuals with thyroid disorders or those receiving radioiodine therapy.

Prolonged or excessive use over large skin areas may cause systemic iodine absorption.

Discontinue use if rash, redness, or irritation develops.

Do not mix with mercury or silver-containing antiseptics.

Use in pregnancy and lactation only if recommended by a physician.

Not intended for internal use or ingestion.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Mild skin dryness or temporary discoloration.

Occasional: Local irritation, itching, or redness.

Rare: Allergic contact dermatitis or hypersensitivity reactions.

Very rare: Thyroid function disturbance with prolonged or large-area application.
