What is it used for?
Povidone iodine 5% is an antiseptic used on the skin to help prevent or treat infection in minor cuts, grazes and small wounds. Use only for the purpose stated on the product label.

How does it work?
It slowly releases iodine, which kills or stops the growth of many bacteria and other microorganisms on the skin.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Clean the affected area and apply the product as directed on the label or by a healthcare professional. Avoid contact with the eyes and do not swallow it. Do not use on large or deep wounds unless advised by a healthcare professional.

Common side effects
Temporary stinging, redness, dryness or skin irritation may occur. Stop using it and seek medical help if signs of an allergic reaction, such as swelling, severe rash or breathing difficulty, occur.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to povidone iodine or iodine-containing products. Ask a healthcare professional before use on large areas, deep or extensive burns, or for prolonged or repeated treatment.
