Each gram of ointment contains:

Povidone Iodine 5% w/w (equivalent to available Iodine 0.5% w/w)

Ointment base: q.s.

Description:

Aldine Ointment is a broad-spectrum antiseptic formulation containing Povidone Iodine 5% w/w, designed for topical application to prevent and manage skin and wound infections.
The iodine released from Povidone Iodine exerts rapid antimicrobial activity against a wide range of bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa, and spores.
It helps clean wounds, prevent infection, and promote healing by maintaining an aseptic environment.
It is suitable for minor cuts, abrasions, burns, ulcers, surgical wounds, and skin infections.

Warnings and Precautions:

For external use only.

Avoid contact with eyes, ears, and mucous membranes.

Do not apply over large or deep wounds without medical advice.

Contraindicated in individuals with known iodine hypersensitivity or thyroid disorders (e.g., hyperthyroidism).

Use with caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in infants.

Avoid concurrent use with mercury or silver-based antiseptics.

Discontinue use if irritation, redness, or allergic reaction occurs.

Prolonged use over large areas may cause systemic iodine absorption and affect thyroid function.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Mild burning, dryness, or temporary brown discoloration of skin.

Occasional: Local irritation or itching at the application site.

Rare: Allergic contact dermatitis or hypersensitivity reactions.

Very rare: Systemic iodine absorption leading to thyroid imbalance (with excessive use).

Storage:

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture.

Keep the tube tightly closed after each use.

Do not freeze.

Keep out of reach of children.
