What is it used for?
Disodium Hydrogen Citrate is used as a urinary alkaliser to reduce burning or discomfort while passing urine. It may also help make urine less acidic, which can support the management or prevention of certain uric acid kidney stones.

How does it work?
It is converted in the body into alkaline substances, making the urine less acidic. This can help reduce irritation caused by acidic urine and may help dissolve or prevent some uric acid stones.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as directed by the doctor or product label. Do not take more or use it for longer than recommended. Maintain adequate fluid intake unless a doctor has advised fluid restriction.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, or bloating may occur.

Precautions
Use only with medical advice if there is kidney disease, heart failure, high blood pressure, swelling, or a sodium-restricted diet, as it contains sodium. Seek medical advice for persistent urinary burning, fever, back pain, blood in the urine, or difficulty passing urine. Do not self-treat suspected kidney stones or urinary infection.
