Composition
Cefuroxime 125 mg.
Uses
Cefuroxime is a cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat susceptible bacterial infections, including:
- Ear, nose, and throat infections
- Sinus and throat infections
- Respiratory tract infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft-tissue infections
It does not work against viral infections such as the common cold or flu.
How to Use
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Cefuroxime tablets are generally taken after food to improve absorption.
Swallow with water and complete the prescribed antibiotic course, even if symptoms improve. Do not stop treatment early unless your doctor tells you to.
Precautions & Warnings
Tell your doctor if you:
- Are allergic to cefuroxime, other cephalosporins, or penicillin antibiotics
- Have kidney disease
- Have previously experienced severe diarrhoea or colitis after antibiotics
Seek urgent medical attention for breathing difficulty, swelling of the face or throat, severe rash, or other signs of a serious allergic reaction.
Contact your doctor if you develop persistent or bloody diarrhoea during or after treatment.

Common side effects include:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Abdominal discomfort
- Headache
- Dizziness
Serious allergic reactions and antibiotic-associated colitis are uncommon but require prompt medical attention.

Cefuroxime is generally considered suitable during pregnancy when medically indicated and is generally compatible with breastfeeding. Always inform your doctor before use.
Storage
Store at room temperature in a dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
Important Safety Information
Use cefuroxime only when prescribed for a bacterial infection. Do not share antibiotics or use leftover medicine. If you miss a dose, take it when remembered unless it is nearly time for the next dose; do not take two doses together.
