Composition

Uses

Vancomycin is used to treat serious infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria, particularly when resistant organisms such as MRSA are suspected or confirmed. It may be used for:

- Serious bloodstream infections (sepsis)

- Skin and soft-tissue infections
- Endocarditis

Oral vancomycin is used for certain Clostridioides difficile intestinal infections, but IV vancomycin does not effectively treat infections confined to the intestine.
