Composition
Amoxicillin 250 mg \+ Cloxacillin 250 mg.
This is a penicillin-class antibiotic combination used for certain bacterial infections.
- Amoxicillin — broad-spectrum penicillin that kills susceptible bacteria.
- Cloxacillin — penicillinase-resistant penicillin, particularly active against susceptible _Staphylococcus_ bacteria.
Uses
It may be prescribed for susceptible bacterial infections such as:
- Respiratory and throat infections
- Skin and soft-tissue infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Certain urinary or other bacterial infections
It does not treat viral infections such as the common cold or influenza.
How to Use
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Cloxacillin is generally better absorbed on an empty stomach, commonly taken about 1 hour before or 2 hours after food, unless your product label or doctor gives different instructions.
Swallow with water and complete the prescribed antibiotic course, even if you feel better.
Precautions & Warnings
Tell your doctor if you:
- Have an allergy to penicillins, cephalosporins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have previously experienced antibiotic-associated colitis
- Have a history of severe allergic reactions to medicines
Seek urgent medical attention for difficulty breathing, swelling of the face/throat, severe rash, or fainting.
Persistent or bloody diarrhoea during or after treatment may indicate antibiotic-associated colitis and requires medical attention.
Possible Side Effects
Common side effects include:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Di usually compatible with breastfeeding. Inform your doctor before taking themarrhoea
- Abdominal discomfort
- Skin rash
- Headache
Rarely, serious allergic reactions, severe skin reactions, or liver problems can occur.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Penicillin antibiotics are generally considered usable during pregnancy when medically indicated and are usually compatible with breastfeeding. Inform your doctor before taking them.
Storage
Store at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
Important Safety Information
Use this combination only when prescribed for a bacterial infection. Do not share antibiotics or use leftover tablets. If you miss a dose, take it when remembered unless it is nearly time for the next dose; do not take two doses together.
