Composition

Disodium Hydrogen Citrate 1.25 g per 5 ml (alkalinizing agent)

Description

Altracirol Syrup contains Disodium Hydrogen Citrate, a urinary alkalinizer.
It helps to:

Reduce acidity of urine

Relieve burning urination

Support management of urinary tract infections

Prevent uric acid crystallization and kidney stone formation

Works by converting to bicarbonate, increasing urinary pH.

Precautions

Use cautiously in kidney impairment, heart disease, or high sodium levels.

Avoid in patients on sodium-restricted diets.

Do not use in severe alkalosis or acute dehydration.

Take after meals to avoid gastric discomfort.

Maintain adequate fluid intake.

Avoid concurrent use with other alkalinizing agents unless advised.

Adverse Effects

Common: Bloating, Belching, Mild abdominal discomfort

Less common: Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhoea

Rare: Hypernatremia, Metabolic alkalosis
