What is it used for?
Amikacin injection is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections, including infections of the lungs, blood, abdomen, urinary tract, bones and joints. It is usually used in hospitals or under close medical supervision.

How does it work?
It kills susceptible bacteria by blocking the production of proteins they need to survive. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by injection into a vein or muscle by a healthcare professional. The dose and treatment duration depend on the type and severity of infection, body weight and kidney function. Do not self-inject or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
