What is it used for?
Amlodipine is used to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to help prevent angina, which is heart-related chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.

How does it work?
It relaxes and widens blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily. This lowers blood pressure and reduces the workload on the heart.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor, at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not stop taking it suddenly without medical advice.

Common side effects
Swelling of the ankles or feet, headache, dizziness, flushing, tiredness, palpitations, nausea and stomach discomfort.

Precautions
Use with caution if there is low blood pressure, liver disease or heart disease. Dizziness may occur, especially when starting treatment; avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. Seek urgent medical help for severe or worsening chest pain, fainting, or swelling of the face, lips or tongue.
