Apixaban 5 Tabs (10X10) Apixaban 5Mg by Elder

What is it used for?
Apixaban is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) used to prevent and treat harmful blood clots. It may be prescribed to reduce the risk of stroke in certain people with an irregular heartbeat, and to treat or prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).

How does it work?
It blocks factor Xa, a substance needed for blood clot formation. This reduces the blood’s tendency to form harmful clots.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same times each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water. Do not stop treatment or change the dose without medical advice. If surgery, dental treatment or an invasive procedure is planned, inform the doctor that apixaban is being taken.

Common side effects
Easy bruising, prolonged bleeding, nosebleeds, bleeding from the gums, blood in the urine, heavier menstrual bleeding, nausea and anaemia.

Precautions
Seek urgent medical help for heavy or uncontrollable bleeding, vomiting or coughing blood, black stools, severe headache, weakness or after a serious injury. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, a history of bleeding, or all medicines being taken, especially other blood thinners, antiplatelet medicines, painkillers such as ibuprofen or aspirin, and certain antibiotics or antifungal medicines. Avoid starting or stopping medicines without medical advice.
