What is it used for?
Pancreatin is used as digestive enzyme replacement when the pancreas does not produce enough enzymes. It helps improve the digestion and absorption of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, including in conditions such as chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis or after pancreatic surgery.

How does it work?
It supplies pancreatic enzymes, including lipase, amylase and protease, to help break down food in the intestine.

How to take/use it
Use exactly as prescribed or directed on the product label. It is generally taken with meals and snacks. Swallow the medicine as directed; do not crush or chew enteric-coated preparations unless specifically advised.

Common side effects
Abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, constipation or diarrhoea may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about an allergy to pancreatin or pork proteins, cystic fibrosis, gout or high uric acid levels. Seek medical advice for severe or persistent abdominal pain, constipation or vomiting. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice.
