What is it used for?
Cefpodoxime is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, including infections of the ear, throat, lungs, urinary tract and skin. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from forming their protective cell wall, which kills the bacteria and helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed by the doctor. Reconstitute the dry syrup exactly as directed using the supplied water, shake well before each use, and measure with an appropriate measuring device. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not use leftover medicine for another illness.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and headache may occur. Mild rash can also occur.

Precautions
Do not use if there has been a serious allergy to cefpodoxime, cephalosporins or other penicillin-type antibiotics without medical advice. Tell the doctor about kidney problems, previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea or antibiotic allergies. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, breathing difficulty, facial swelling or a widespread rash. Keep out of children's reach and follow the label for storage after mixing.
