What is it used for?
This is a prescription antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as the common cold or flu.

How does it work?
Cefpodoxime stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall. Clavulanic acid helps protect cefpodoxime from enzymes made by some resistant bacteria.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed by the doctor. Prepare and measure the suspension exactly as directed on the label, shake well before each use, and use a proper measuring device. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not use leftover antibiotics or share them.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if there has been a serious allergy to cefpodoxime, other cephalosporins, penicillins, or related antibiotics. Inform the doctor about kidney disease, previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea, or a history of severe allergies. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash, or severe or persistent diarrhoea. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice.
