Description:

Atvas 40 contains Atorvastatin, a lipid-lowering agent belonging to the class of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins). It works by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, thereby reducing cholesterol synthesis in the liver and increasing hepatic uptake of LDL cholesterol.
It is indicated for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, and for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction and stroke in patients at risk.

Warnings and Precautions:

For oral use only, under medical supervision.

Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment; monitor liver function tests before and during therapy.

Avoid excessive alcohol consumption during treatment.

May increase risk of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis; caution when used with fibrates or niacin.

Discontinue if unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness occurs.

Use during pregnancy or lactation is contraindicated; discontinue immediately if pregnancy occurs.

Periodic lipid profile monitoring is recommended to assess efficacy.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Headache, constipation, abdominal pain, flatulence, nausea.

Occasional: Myalgia, joint pain, fatigue, or mild liver enzyme elevation.

Rare: Myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, hypersensitivity reactions, or hepatic dysfunction.

Storage:

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture.
