Promethazine Hydrochloride IP 25 mg
Description:
Avimax Tablet contains Promethazine, an antihistamine belonging to the phenothiazine class. It works by blocking histamine H₁ receptors, thereby reducing allergic symptoms such as runny nose, itching, sneezing, watery eyes, and skin rashes.
It also possesses sedative, antiemetic, and motion sickness–preventive properties, making it useful for conditions such as allergic rhinitis, urticaria, motion sickness, nausea, and insomnia associated with allergies.
Warnings and Precautions:
May cause drowsiness or dizziness; avoid driving or operating machinery after taking this medicine.
Avoid alcohol or other CNS depressants, as they may enhance sedative effects.
Use with caution in elderly patients, those with liver disease, glaucoma, or urinary retention.
Not recommended in children below 2 years due to risk of respiratory depression.
Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Adverse Effects:
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, or confusion (especially in older adults). Rarely, allergic reactions or breathing difficulties may occur.
