Description:

Azikem 200 mg Suspension contains Azithromycin, a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby stopping bacterial growth and replication.
It is indicated for the treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and certain pediatric bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. The 200 mg/5 ml strength provides a higher-dose option suitable for older children and weight-based dosing convenience.

Warnings and Precautions:

For oral use only, to be taken under medical supervision.

Shake well before use.

Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment or pre-existing cardiac conditions (e.g., QT prolongation).

Avoid use with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium hydroxide, as they may reduce drug absorption.

Complete the full course of therapy even if symptoms subside early to prevent bacterial resistance.

Use during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly indicated by a physician.

Monitor for allergic reactions such as rash or swelling, and discontinue if severe hypersensitivity occurs.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting.

Occasional: Headache, dizziness, or mild rash.

Rare: Hepatic dysfunction, palpitations, or hypersensitivity reactions (angioedema, anaphylaxis).

Storage:

Store the dry powder below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture.

After reconstitution, store in a refrigerator (2–8°C) and consume within 5 days.
