Azikem Suspension (Azithromycin 100 mg)

Composition:

Each 5 ml of reconstituted suspension contains:

Azithromycin 100 mg (as Azithromycin Dihydrate)

Flavoured base: q.s.

Description:

Azikem Suspension contains Azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing bacterial growth.
It is indicated for the treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, otitis media, and certain bacterial infections in children caused by susceptible organisms.

Warnings and Precautions:

For oral use only, to be taken under medical supervision.

Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment, as Azithromycin is primarily eliminated via the liver.

Complete the full course of therapy even if symptoms improve early, to prevent resistance.

Avoid concomitant use with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, as they may reduce absorption.

Caution in patients with QT prolongation, cardiac arrhythmia, or electrolyte imbalance.

Use during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly indicated by the physician.

Shake well before each use.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting.

Occasional: Headache, dizziness, or mild rash.

Rare: Hepatic dysfunction, hypersensitivity reactions, or QT prolongation.

Storage:

Store the dry powder below 25°C, in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture.

After reconstitution, store in a refrigerator (2–8°C) and use within 5 days.

Keep out of reach of children.
