What is it used for?
Azithromycin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, including some infections of the ear, throat, chest, skin and other parts of the body. It does not work against viral infections such as common colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow and multiply.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed by a doctor. Shake the suspension well before each use and measure it with the supplied measuring device. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not use leftover antibiotics or share this medicine.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and headache may occur. Mild skin rash can also occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any allergy to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics, liver disease, heart rhythm problems or medicines that may affect heart rhythm. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, yellowing of the skin or eyes, severe rash, swelling, breathing difficulty or fainting.
