What is it used for?
Baclofen is a muscle relaxant used to relieve muscle stiffness, tightness and spasms (spasticity), especially when related to conditions affecting the brain or spinal cord.

How does it work?
It acts on nerve signals in the spinal cord to reduce excessive muscle activity, helping relax stiff or overactive muscles.

How to take/use it
Take this medicine by mouth exactly as prescribed. It may be taken with or after food if it causes stomach discomfort. Do not stop it suddenly unless advised by a doctor, as the dose usually needs to be reduced gradually.

Common side effects
Sleepiness, dizziness, weakness, tiredness, nausea and confusion may occur.

Precautions
Avoid alcohol and be careful with driving or operating machinery because baclofen can cause sleepiness or dizziness. Tell the doctor if there is kidney disease, a history of seizures, or breathing problems, or if taking medicines that cause drowsiness. Seek medical advice if severe weakness, breathing difficulty, unusual confusion or hallucinations occur.
