Description:
Bioval CR 300 Tablet contains Sodium Valproate, a broad-spectrum anticonvulsant used to control various types of seizures and mood disorders. It increases gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels in the brain, enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission and stabilizing neuronal firing.

The controlled-release (CR) formulation provides prolonged therapeutic action with improved compliance and reduced dosing frequency.

Warnings and Precautions:

Use with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment; liver function tests should be performed before and during therapy.

Contraindicated in hepatic disease, urea cycle disorders, and known hypersensitivity to valproate.

May cause teratogenic effects; contraindicated during pregnancy unless no safer alternative exists.

Monitor serum valproate levels, liver enzymes, and platelet count regularly.

Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants during therapy.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Nausea, vomiting, tremor, dizziness, weight gain.

Occasional: Hair loss, drowsiness, ataxia, blurred vision.

Rare: Hepatotoxicity, pancreatitis, thrombocytopenia, hyperammonemia.
