What is it used for?
Bisoprolol is used to treat high blood pressure and certain heart conditions, including angina, irregular heart rhythms and heart failure. It may also help reduce the workload on the heart.

How does it work?
It is a beta-blocker that slows the heartbeat and reduces the force with which the heart pumps. This lowers blood pressure and reduces the heart’s need for oxygen.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet with water. Do not stop taking it suddenly unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Tiredness, dizziness, headache, slow heartbeat, cold hands or feet, nausea and stomach upset.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about asthma or other breathing problems, diabetes, very slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, circulation problems or other heart conditions. It may mask warning signs of low blood sugar. Avoid stopping it suddenly. Seek medical advice if breathing difficulty, fainting or an unusually slow heartbeat occurs.
