What is it used for?
Bisoprolol is used to treat high blood pressure, angina (heart-related chest pain), and certain types of heart failure. It may also help reduce the workload on the heart and lower the risk of heart-related complications.

How does it work?
It is a beta-blocker that slows the heart rate and reduces the force with which the heart pumps. This lowers blood pressure and reduces the heart’s need for oxygen.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water. Do not change the dose or stop treatment suddenly unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Tiredness, dizziness, headache, slow heartbeat, cold hands or feet, nausea, diarrhoea, or sleep disturbance may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about asthma or other breathing problems, diabetes, low blood pressure, a slow heartbeat, circulation problems, or other heart conditions. Bisoprolol may mask some warning signs of low blood sugar. Avoid stopping it suddenly. Seek medical help for severe breathing difficulty, fainting, or an unusually slow or irregular heartbeat.
