What is it used for?
Cefepime with Sulbactam is a prescription antibiotic injection used to treat serious bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Cefepime stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall. Sulbactam helps cefepime work against certain bacteria that can resist some antibiotics.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by injection into a vein or muscle by a healthcare professional. The dose and treatment duration depend on the type and severity of infection and kidney function. Complete the prescribed course unless the prescriber advises otherwise.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, rash, headache, and pain or irritation at the injection site may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about allergies to cefepime, cephalosporins, penicillins or other antibiotics, and about kidney disease. Dose adjustment and monitoring may be needed in reduced kidney function. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash, persistent or bloody diarrhoea, confusion, unusual movements or seizures.
