Composition

Each vial contains Cefotaxime Sodium equivalent to 1 g of Cefotaxime.

Description

Protaxime 1000 is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used for treating a wide range of bacterial infections. It is effective against respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, septicemia, meningitis, skin and soft tissue infections and bone/joint infections. It is administered intravenously or intramuscularly under medical supervision.

Precautions

Use cautiously in patients with known allergies to beta-lactam antibiotics. Dose adjustments may be needed in renal impairment. Monitor for signs of superinfection with prolonged therapy. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only on a doctor's advice. Ensure proper aseptic technique during preparation and administration.

Adverse Effects

Common adverse effects may include pain or swelling at the injection site, diarrhea, nausea, rash or headache. Rare reactions include hypersensitivity, changes in blood counts and elevated liver enzymes.
