Composition

Each vial contains Cefotaxime Sodium equivalent to 250 mg of Cefotaxime.

Description

Protaxime 250 is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic indicated for mild to moderate bacterial infections. It is used in respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections and other susceptible infections. It is administered intramuscularly or intravenously under medical supervision.

Precautions

Use with caution in patients allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins. Dose modification may be required in renal insufficiency. Avoid unnecessary prolonged use to prevent resistance or secondary infections. Use during pregnancy or lactation only if advised by a healthcare professional.

Adverse Effects

Possible effects include injection site pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, mild rash or headache. Rare reactions include hypersensitivity, blood count changes and liver enzyme elevations.
