Composition

Each vial contains Cefotaxime Sodium equivalent to 500 mg of Cefotaxime.

Description

Protaxime 500 is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used for treating moderate bacterial infections. It is effective against respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections and certain systemic infections. It is administered intramuscularly or intravenously under strict medical supervision.

Precautions

Use carefully in patients with known allergies to cephalosporins or penicillins. Dose adjustment may be necessary in renal impairment. Prolonged use should be avoided unless prescribed. Consult a healthcare provider before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Adverse Effects

May cause injection site pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, rash or headache. Rarely may cause hypersensitivity reactions, blood count changes or liver enzyme alterations.

Store below 25°C, protect from moisture and direct light and keep in the original vial until use. Keep out of reach of children.
