What is it used for?
Cefoperazone and tazobactam is an injectable antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections. It should be used only when prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
Cefoperazone kills susceptible bacteria by preventing them from building their protective cell wall. Tazobactam helps cefoperazone work against certain bacteria that can otherwise resist it.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by injection into a vein or muscle by a doctor or trained healthcare professional. The dose and treatment duration depend on the type and severity of infection and should be decided by the prescriber. Do not stop treatment early unless advised.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, skin rash, pain at the injection site, and changes in liver or blood test results may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any allergy to penicillins, cephalosporins or other beta-lactam antibiotics, liver disease, bleeding or clotting problems, or kidney disease. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling or a severe skin rash. Contact a doctor for severe or persistent diarrhoea, as antibiotic-associated colitis can occur. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for the period advised by the doctor after the last dose.
