What is it used for?
Ceftriaxone with tazobactam is an injectable antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Ceftriaxone kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall. Tazobactam blocks certain bacterial enzymes that can make ceftriaxone less effective.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by injection into a vein or muscle by a doctor or nurse. The dose and treatment duration depend on the type and severity of the infection. Use it only as prescribed and complete the recommended course.

Common side effects
Pain, redness or swelling at the injection site, diarrhoea, nausea, skin rash and changes in liver test results may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any allergy to ceftriaxone, other cephalosporins, penicillins or other antibiotics, and about liver, kidney or gallbladder problems. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, breathing difficulty, facial swelling or a severe skin rash. This medicine should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding only when advised by a doctor.
