What is it used for?
Cefpodoxime Proxetil + Clavulanic Acid is a prescription antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Cefpodoxime kills susceptible bacteria by interfering with their cell-wall formation. Clavulanic acid helps protect cefpodoxime from enzymes produced by some bacteria, improving its activity.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Complete the full course, even if symptoms improve, and do not share it with others. If a dose is missed, follow the prescribed instructions rather than taking extra medicine.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain or discomfort, indigestion, and headache. Skin rash may also occur.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about any allergy to cefpodoxime, penicillins, cephalosporins or other antibiotics, and about kidney problems. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, swelling, severe rash, or severe or persistent diarrhoea, especially if it contains blood. Use only when prescribed, as unnecessary antibiotic use can cause resistance.
