What is it used for?
Cetirizine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itching or hives (urticaria).

How does it work?
It blocks the action of histamine, a substance released during allergic reactions. This helps reduce itching, sneezing, runny nose and other allergy symptoms.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as directed on the product label or by a doctor. Swallow the tablet with water; it may be taken with or without food. Do not take more than recommended.

Common side effects
Sleepiness or drowsiness, tiredness, headache, dry mouth, nausea and dizziness.

Precautions
Cetirizine may cause drowsiness in some people; avoid driving or operating machinery until its effect is known. Avoid or limit alcohol, as it may increase sleepiness. Seek medical advice if there is kidney disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or before giving it to a child. Get medical help for signs of a serious allergic reaction.
