What is it used for?
Rosuvastatin is used to lower high levels of cholesterol and other harmful fats in the blood. It may also be prescribed to help reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people at increased cardiovascular risk.

How does it work?
It reduces cholesterol production in the liver and helps the liver remove more LDL (bad) cholesterol from the blood.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day. It may be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole and do not stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, constipation, stomach pain, dizziness, and muscle aches or weakness.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about liver or kidney disease, thyroid problems, heavy alcohol use, or a history of muscle problems with cholesterol medicines. Seek medical advice promptly for unexplained or severe muscle pain or weakness, especially with dark urine. It should not usually be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Inform the doctor about all other medicines, as some medicines can increase the risk of side effects.
