What is it used for?
Rosuvastatin is used to lower high levels of cholesterol and other harmful fats in the blood. It may also be prescribed to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people at increased cardiovascular risk.

How does it work?
It reduces the liver's production of cholesterol and helps the liver remove more LDL (bad) cholesterol from the blood.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, with water. It may be taken with or without food. Take it regularly and do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, stomach pain, constipation, and muscle aches or pain may occur. Contact a doctor promptly for severe muscle pain or weakness, especially with dark-coloured urine.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about liver or kidney problems, thyroid disease, heavy alcohol use, or previous muscle problems with cholesterol medicines. Seek medical advice before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Inform the doctor about all other medicines, as some can increase the risk of muscle-related side effects.
