What is it used for?
Clindamycin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, including infections affecting the skin, teeth, bones, lungs and other parts of the body. It does not work for viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow and multiply.

How to take/use it
Use exactly as prescribed and complete the recommended course, even if symptoms improve. Do not take more or less than prescribed, and do not share this medicine with others.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to clindamycin or lincomycin. Seek medical help for severe, persistent or bloody diarrhoea during treatment or even several weeks afterwards, as this may indicate a serious bowel infection. Tell the doctor about previous bowel disease or liver problems. Seek urgent help for swelling of the face or difficulty breathing.
