What is it used for?
Clindamycin is an antibiotic used to treat certain serious bacterial infections, including infections of the skin and soft tissues, bones and joints, teeth, lungs, and other areas. It does not work for viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow and multiply.

How to take/use it
Use clindamycin exactly as prescribed. The method of use depends on the product form and may be by mouth or injection. Complete the prescribed course unless a healthcare professional advises otherwise. Do not share leftover antibiotics.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Tell the healthcare professional about any previous allergy to clindamycin or lincomycin, or any history of colitis or severe diarrhoea after antibiotics. Contact a healthcare professional promptly if severe, persistent, or bloody diarrhoea develops during or after treatment. Seek urgent help for signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face or difficulty breathing.
