What is it used for?
Clobazam is mainly used with other medicines to help control seizures in epilepsy. It may also be prescribed for other conditions only when specifically advised by a doctor.

How does it work?
It enhances the calming action of GABA, a chemical messenger in the brain, helping to reduce excessive brain activity that can cause seizures.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, and swallow the tablet with water. Do not stop it suddenly or change the dose without medical advice, as this may worsen seizures or cause withdrawal symptoms.

Common side effects
Sleepiness, tiredness, dizziness, poor coordination, slowed thinking, slurred speech, and memory problems may occur.

Precautions
Avoid alcohol and be careful with driving or operating machinery because this medicine can cause sleepiness and reduced alertness. Tell the doctor if there is breathing difficulty, sleep apnoea, liver or kidney disease, pregnancy, or a history of medicine or substance dependence. Combining it with opioid pain medicines or other sedatives can cause severe drowsiness and breathing problems. Long-term use may cause dependence.
