What is it used for?
Clobazam 5 mg is used mainly as an add-on treatment to help control certain types of epileptic seizures. It is usually prescribed by a specialist as part of an overall seizure-management plan.

How does it work?
Clobazam belongs to the benzodiazepine group. It increases the calming activity of a chemical messenger in the brain, helping reduce abnormal electrical activity that can cause seizures.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the tablet with water and do not stop treatment suddenly, as this may worsen seizures or cause withdrawal symptoms. Avoid alcohol and do not take more than prescribed.

Common side effects
Sleepiness, dizziness, tiredness, reduced alertness, poor coordination, slurred speech and difficulty with memory or concentration may occur.

Precautions
Clobazam can cause dependence and withdrawal symptoms, especially with prolonged use. Avoid driving or operating machinery until its effects are known. Tell the doctor about breathing problems, liver disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any use of opioids, sleeping medicines or other sedatives, as combined use can cause excessive sedation and breathing difficulties. Seek urgent medical help for severe breathing problems, extreme sleepiness or unusual behaviour changes.
