What is it used for?
Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet medicine used to help prevent harmful blood clots. It is commonly prescribed after a heart attack, stroke, certain heart procedures such as stent placement, or in some conditions affecting the blood vessels.

How does it work?
It makes blood platelets less likely to stick together and form clots. This helps reduce the risk of blocked blood vessels affecting the heart or brain.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole. Do not stop taking it without medical advice, especially after a stent or heart event. Tell the doctor or dentist before any surgery or dental procedure.

Common side effects
Easy bruising, bleeding that takes longer to stop, nosebleeds, indigestion, stomach pain, or diarrhoea.

Precautions
Seek urgent medical help for heavy or unexplained bleeding, black stools, blood in urine or vomit, or sudden severe headache or weakness. Inform the doctor about any bleeding disorder, stomach ulcer, liver disease, allergy to clopidogrel, or use of blood thinners, aspirin, or painkillers such as ibuprofen. Do not start other medicines or supplements without medical advice.
