Sulfamethoxazole IP – 800 mg,Trimethoprim IP – 160 mg,Excipients – q.s.

Description:
Co-Trimoxazole Double Strength Tablet is a fixed-dose combination of Sulfamethoxazole (a sulfonamide antibiotic) and Trimethoprim (a dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor).
The combination acts synergistically by blocking two consecutive steps in bacterial folate synthesis, resulting in potent bactericidal activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.

It is commonly used to treat urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain opportunistic infections.

Warnings and Precautions:

For oral use only.

Ensure adequate hydration during therapy to prevent crystalluria.

Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to sulfonamides or trimethoprim, megaloblastic anemia, or severe hepatic disease.

Avoid use in pregnancy and lactation unless prescribed.

Monitor complete blood count during prolonged therapy.

Adverse Effects:

Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite

Skin rash, urticaria

Rarely: Stevens–Johnson syndrome, blood dyscrasias, hepatitis, or hyperkalemia
