What is it used for?
This is a prescription antibiotic used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It does not work against viral infections such as the common cold or flu.

How does it work?
Cefpodoxime stops bacteria from making their protective cell wall. Clavulanic acid helps protect cefpodoxime from certain enzymes made by resistant bacteria, improving its antibacterial action.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the tablet with water and do not skip doses. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not share this medicine or use leftover antibiotics.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, headache and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not use it if there has been a serious allergy to cefpodoxime, penicillins, cephalosporins or other beta-lactam antibiotics. Inform the doctor about kidney disease, previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea or severe allergies. Seek medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, a severe rash, or severe or persistent diarrhoea. Use only when prescribed, as unnecessary antibiotic use can promote resistance.
