What is it used for?
Glibenclamide is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
It stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin, helping lower blood sugar levels.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually with or just before a meal. Do not skip meals after taking it, and do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Low blood sugar, nausea, stomach discomfort, increased appetite, and weight gain. Low blood sugar may cause sweating, shaking, dizziness, hunger, or confusion.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision, especially with kidney or liver problems, in older adults, or if meals are irregular. Avoid excessive alcohol, as it can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Monitor blood sugar as advised. Seek urgent help for severe or persistent low blood sugar, fainting, or confusion.
