What is it used for?
This medicine is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It may be prescribed when blood sugar is not adequately controlled with other treatment.

How does it work?
Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess glucose through urine. Vildagliptin increases the body's natural insulin response after meals and reduces the release of hormones that raise blood sugar.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually at the same time each day. It may be taken with or without food unless the prescriber gives different instructions. Swallow the tablet with water, and do not change or stop treatment without medical advice. Do not take a double dose if a dose is missed.

Common side effects
Increased urination, thirst, dizziness, dehydration, nausea, urinary tract infections, and genital fungal infections may occur. Low blood sugar is more likely when used with insulin or certain other diabetes medicines.

Precautions
Drink adequate fluids unless advised otherwise. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver disease, repeated urinary or genital infections, pancreatitis, or low blood pressure. Seek urgent medical help for severe dehydration, persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, confusion, or unusual tiredness. This medicine is not generally used for type 1 diabetes. Inform the doctor before major surgery, prolonged fasting, or if pregnant or breastfeeding.
