What is it used for?
This medicine is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when one or more medicines alone are not enough. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver, while dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove some excess glucose through urine.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually with food to reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet whole unless advised otherwise. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. Drink enough fluids, unless fluid restriction has been advised.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, and loss of appetite may occur. Low blood sugar can cause sweating, shaking, dizziness, hunger, or weakness. Increased urination, dehydration, and genital or urinary infections may also occur.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision if there is kidney or liver disease, dehydration, or a history of recurrent urinary or genital infections. Monitor blood sugar regularly and learn how to recognise and treat low blood sugar. Seek urgent medical help for severe weakness, vomiting, stomach pain, breathing difficulty, confusion, or unusual sleepiness. Dapagliflozin may rarely cause diabetic ketoacidosis even when blood sugar is not very high. Tell the doctor before surgery, prolonged fasting, or during a serious illness. Avoid excessive alcohol and inform the doctor about pregnancy or breastfeeding.
