Description

Dapaking-M 5/500 XR Tablet is a dual oral therapy for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus designed to improve glycemic control through complementary mechanisms:

Dapagliflozin: A SGLT2 inhibitor that promotes urinary glucose excretion, thereby reducing blood glucose and aiding weight control and blood pressure reduction.

Metformin XR: A biguanide that reduces hepatic glucose output and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity, with a lower risk of gastrointestinal upset due to its extended-release form.

The combination provides durable glycemic control and may reduce insulin requirements when used early in therapy.

Warnings and Precautions

Lactic Acidosis: Risk from Metformin—avoid in renal dysfunction, dehydration, or hypoxia.

Genital and Urinary Infections: More likely with Dapagliflozin; advise hygiene.

Volume Depletion: Monitor hydration and renal function.

Ketoacidosis: Rare but possible; discontinue if symptoms occur.

Weight Reduction: Mild weight loss may occur.

Adverse Effects

Common: Polyuria, genital mycotic infections, nausea, diarrhea, dysuria, headache.
Occasional: Fatigue, thirst, mild hypotension.
Rare but Serious: Lactic acidosis, urosepsis, ketoacidosis.
