What is it used for?
This medicine is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when one or more diabetes medicines are not enough. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess sugar through urine. Metformin reduces sugar production by the liver and improves the body's response to insulin, while sitagliptin helps the body release insulin and reduce sugar production after meals.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably with food, and swallow it as directed. Do not crush or split the tablet unless advised. Maintain adequate fluid intake and continue the recommended diet and exercise plan. Do not stop it without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, increased urination, urinary tract infection and genital fungal infection. Low blood sugar may occur, especially when used with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about kidney or liver problems, dehydration, recurrent urinary or genital infections, pancreatitis, heart failure, or heavy alcohol use. Seek urgent medical help for severe vomiting, stomach pain, unusual tiredness, breathing difficulty, confusion, or symptoms of severe dehydration. Discuss its use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Kidney function and blood sugar should be monitored as advised. Temporarily stopping it may be necessary during serious illness, prolonged fasting, or before some procedures—follow medical advice.
