What is it used for?
Used to help relieve and prevent breathing difficulties caused by asthma and other long-term airway conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It helps open the airways but is not usually used for immediate relief of a sudden breathing attack.

How does it work?
It relaxes the muscles around the airways, helping them open and making breathing easier.

How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed by the doctor. Do not take extra doses or change the dose without medical advice. Take it at the same time each day if advised, and avoid excessive caffeine unless the doctor recommends otherwise.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, headache, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, shakiness and a fast or irregular heartbeat.

Precautions
This medicine has a narrow safety margin, so regular medical monitoring may be needed. Inform the doctor about heart or liver disease, seizures, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell the doctor about all other medicines, as many medicines can affect its safety. Smoking changes how it works; inform the doctor if smoking is started or stopped. Seek urgent medical help for severe vomiting, marked palpitations, confusion, seizures or worsening breathing difficulty.
