What is it used for?
Etophylline + theophylline is a bronchodilator used to help relieve breathing difficulty, wheezing and chest tightness in conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It should be used only as prescribed.

How does it work?
It relaxes the muscles around the airways, helping them open and making breathing easier.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with water. Do not take more than the recommended amount. Do not crush or chew it unless the product instructions specifically allow this. It is not usually intended to provide immediate relief during a sudden severe breathing attack unless directed by a doctor.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, headache, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, shakiness and fast or pounding heartbeat.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about heart disease, high blood pressure, seizures, overactive thyroid, liver disease or persistent fever. Avoid excessive caffeine, as it may worsen side effects. Tell the doctor about all medicines being taken, especially other breathing medicines, antibiotics and seizure medicines. Seek urgent medical help for severe or persistent vomiting, very fast or irregular heartbeat, severe agitation or seizures.
